Finnish contemporary circus can be experienced in New York at Skirball Center for the Performing Arts on March 2–5, 2017 when Finnish Race Horse Company performs pre-premiere of their new show Disco 3000 at Circus Now: International Contemporary Circus Exposure. Circus Now is a showcase programming boundary pushing contemporary circus featuring the world’s most innovative and inspired companies.
The international affairs manager of CircusInfo Finland, Lotta Nevalainen takes part in Pre-Show Panel Discussion on Global Models of Circus Training and Funding on March 3 together with Nadia Drouin from la TOHU and Hélène Métailié from La Grainerie. Participants discuss on various circus training methods and funding models from three countries as examples: Canada (Quebec), Finland, and France. Each country has a long history of artistic innovation and support of circus. The panel will share aspects of the infrastructure and government/cultural assistance that has helped circus thrive. The managing director of Circus Now, Adam Woolley will be moderating the discussion.
CircusInfo Finland together with Dance Info Finland and the Consulate General of Finland in New York will organise a networking event for American presenters and producers during the showcase. Event aims to make Finnish circus and dance better known in North America.
